Blessin’ in the Lesson

Yeah, I’ve been around many blocks
Lifelong student, School of Hard Knocks
Tossed some darts to see what hits
Some of them stuck, others missed
I found 10,000 ways that won’t work
Thomas Edison said with a smirk
To the wise, it’s not a loss when you learn
Cos’ they know, setbacks can be overturned

Did you learn? Great life begs the question
Do you see, the blessin’ in the lesson
Calling it quits, a loser’s transgression
Stay the course, there’s blessin’ in the lesson
Solve for yes, make this your obsession
Answer’s there, blessin’ in the lesson
Yea, oh yea, blessin’ in the lesson

Harry Potter, twelve times they did reject
Millions of books sold, diligence effect
Air Jordan, once cut from his team
Mattered not, nobody’s blocking his dream
Colonel Sanders, refused over a thousand times
Didn’t stop, kept going, never paused his climb
Steve Jobs, once a board member, then no longer
Licked his wounds, learned his value, came back stronger

Did you learn? Great life begs the question
Do you see, the blessin’ in the lesson
Calling it quits, a loser’s transgression
Stay the course, there’s blessin’ in the lesson
Solve for yes, make this your obsession
Answer’s there, blessin’ in the lesson
Yea, oh yea, blessin’ in the lesson

Life wants to know, the balls in your court
Will you keep going or will you abort
When you trip, will you make an excuse
Or will you get up, carry on and produce
The choice is clear, it’s up to you
It’s really that easy, who knew
You can do this, you now have the key
In your favor, are those lessons, you’ll see

Did you learn? Great life begs the question
Do you see, the blessin’ in the lesson
Calling it quits, a loser’s transgression
Stay the course, there’s blessin’ in the lesson
Solve for yes, make this your obsession
Answer’s there, blessin’ in the lesson
Blessin’ in the lesson
Oh yea, blessin’ in the lesson
Blessin’ in the lesson
